For the past 20 years Dr. Haruhisa Handa has been generously supporting the development of Cambodia, and it’s recovery from decades of war, through the numerous organizations that he leads. This support has included the formation and development of the University of Cambodia, the Sihanouk Hospital, the Future Light Orphanage of World Mate, the opening of the South East Asia Television Stations, various programs of the Cambodian Red Cross, and several other important initiatives.
In 2013 a charity called the World Mate Foundation was founded to expand the impact of the World Mate membership in some of the poorest countries of Southeast Asia. It is registered in Cambodia as a non-political, not-for-profit organization that provides high-quality healthcare for the local people, regardless of their income. The World Mate Emergency Hospital as well as its managing organization, the World Mate Foundation, are supported by the heartfelt goodwill of individual World Mate members. Dr. Haruhisa Handa currently serves as the Honorary Chairman of the World Mate Foundation and the Honorary Director of the World Mate Emergency Hospital.
The Handa Foundation operates several programs including the Handa Medical Center, located adjacent to the World Mate Emergency Hospital. The World Mate Foundation works closely with The Handa Foundation, the Cambodian Ministry of Health, and with dozens of other organizations both in Cambodia and throughout the world.
