The World Mate Foundation

For the past 20 years Dr. Haruhisa Handa has been generously supporting the development of Cambodia and it’s recovery from decades of war through numerous organizations that he leads. This support has included the formation and development of the University of Cambodia, the Sihanouk Hospital, the Future Light Orphanage of World Mate, the opening of the South East Asia Television Stations, various programs of the Cambodian Red Cross, and several other important initiatives.

In 2013 a charity called the World Mate Foundation was founded by Dr. Handa to expand the impact of the World Mate membership in some of the poorest countries of Southeast Asia. It is registered in Cambodia as a non-political, non-religious, not-for-profit organization that provides high-quality healthcare for the local people of Cambodia, regardless of their income. The World Mate Emergency Hospital is managed by The Handa Foundation, however the generous funding that allows it to provide free medical care to thousands of patients every year comes from the World Mate Foundation – which is supported by the heartfelt goodwill of many individual World Mate members in Japan. Dr. Haruhisa Handa currently serves as the Honorary Chairman of the World Mate Foundation and as the Honorary Director of the World Mate Emergency Hospital.
